ShadeDrop

A smart curtain for your Mac.

Get ShadeDrop on the Mac App Store
ShadeDrop displaying its neon ASCII privacy curtain across a Mac screen

A small charm hangs on a cord at the edge of your display. Grab it, give it a flick, and a curtain falls across every connected screen. Flick it again and your desktop comes back.

Six ways to cover a screen: velvet drape, roller shade, living weave, pixel curtain, neon ASCII field, and a banyan weave that resolves out of drifting glyphs. Turn on adaptive privacy and ShadeDrop will close itself when you step away or someone appears behind you, analysing every frame on your own Mac and recording nothing.

Press Esc at any time and the curtain lifts. Esc only ever raises, never lowers.

ShadeDrop is a visual privacy overlay, not a security boundary. It does not lock macOS and is not a replacement for the system Lock Screen.
