CurtainShot Support

Where is it?

CurtainShot lives in the menu bar. There is no Dock icon and no window. Look for a thin cord hanging from the lower edge of the menu bar, near the right of your main display, with a small camera-shutter charm on the end. Drag the mount the cord hangs from to move it anywhere along the menu bar.

How do I take a capture?

Drag the charm downward and let go. Pull it again to save, press ⌘S, or click Save. Option-Command-4 does the same thing from anywhere.

How do I get out?

Press Escape. The curtain lifts and the capture is discarded. Escape only ever raises the curtain, so it can never leave you stuck. Quitting from the menu bar also removes it immediately.

It says it cannot see the screen

Open System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Screen & System Audio Recording and switch CurtainShot on, then reopen CurtainShot. The permission only takes effect on a fresh launch, so if the switch is already on, relaunching is the step that is missing.

Nothing is being saved

Choose Save Location ▸ Open Captures Folder from the menu bar to see where captures are going, or Choose Folder to pick somewhere else.

Still stuck?
