Privacy and support information for the Call a Hero iPhone app.
Effective date: August 4, 2026
Call a Hero is an adults-only iPhone app that provides live, fictional hero conversations using Google’s Gemini service. This policy explains what information is processed, why it is processed, and what remains on the device.
Call a Hero is intended only for people who are 18 or older. The app requests an age range through Apple’s Declared Age Range API and allows access only when the shared lower bound is at least 18. Call a Hero does not receive an exact birth date or exact age. If the age range is declined or does not establish adult status, access is blocked.
When an adult starts a live call, microphone audio is streamed to Google Gemini so the service can understand the participant and generate an audio response. Call a Hero does not intentionally record or save microphone audio. Microphone access is active only while a live call is connected.
Google may process and retain service data for security, abuse prevention, and service operation according to the applicable Gemini API terms and Google privacy documentation. Participants should not speak private or sensitive information during a call.
Gemini may return text transcriptions of participant and hero speech. Call a Hero stores those transcripts only in the app’s local container on the iPhone with file protection. Transcripts are not intentionally uploaded to the publisher’s database. A participant can delete one transcript, delete all transcripts, or delete the app.
Custom hero names, roles, powers, personality settings, topics, catchphrases, and selected photos are stored locally on the iPhone. A selected photo is processed into a square image in the app container. Custom hero text may be sent to Gemini as fictional conversation context when that custom hero is called. Photos are not sent to Gemini by Call a Hero.
The app uses Apple App Attest to help confirm that live-token requests come from an allowed TestFlight or App Store build. Apple provides a cryptographic attestation. The Call a Hero backend processes App Attest key identifiers, public keys, receipts, counters, one-time challenges, build identity, and quota counters. Server storage uses hashed identifiers for security-state key names.
The backend also receives normal network information, such as an IP address, as part of providing and protecting the service. It uses that information for short-window challenge rate limiting and service security, not for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Processed data is used only to:
Call a Hero does not include advertising SDKs, behavioral analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking. It does not sell personal information.
The current version does not require a Call a Hero account and does not include in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Local hero profiles, photos, settings, and transcripts remain until the participant deletes them or deletes the app, subject to Apple backup behavior. Security records such as App Attest keys, counters, and quota state may remain on the backend for integrity and abuse prevention. One-time challenges and quota windows expire automatically.
For a privacy or deletion request concerning backend security data, contact vinayanand2@icloud.com. Because the app does not use an account, the publisher may need limited device or request details to locate a relevant security record and may be unable to associate a record with a named person.
Each provider processes information under its own terms and privacy commitments.
This policy may be updated when app functionality, service providers, data practices, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
